As I start my diet goal, one of the things I did was to achieve the awareness of avoiding the foods that make me fat. Its hard to lose weight or shed off those pounds when you don’t know what to eat or what not to eat. I recently learned that any type of beverage that contains sugar or refined syrup is considered to be refined carbohydrates. If I could really turn back the time when I always buy fruit shakes from Big Chill and Fruitas where they load lots of syrup cups in my drink. Well, drinking fresh fruit beverage is healthier than drinking soda but since my goal is weight loss, I avoid drinking those. If you are also interested in eating Fat Burning Foods, there’s a link at the bottom of this post.
Here are some of the Refined Carbohydrates / Refined Carbs that I avoid eating:
- pizza ( I’m definitely staying out of the buy one take one pizza of Pizza Hut! )
- spaghetti ( include all types of pasta like baked mac and lasagna )
- any type of pastries ( check out how many calorie does Goldilocks polvoron or Ensaymada has )
- siomai / siopao / dumplings ( I remember my cousin used to defend this by eating Japanese Siomai, according to him japanese siomai uses seaweed and its steamed)
- muffin ( say bye bye to Kenny Roger’s corn muffin! )
- croissant ( I used to order this in Country Style and Bread talk. Speaking of break talk, I used to buy my favorite Kick Kick in Break Talk Alabang Town Center. I haven’t tasted it in 3 months! Keeping focused! )
- tacos / wraps ( I guess I’m missing fajitas on my birthday, Its one of my birthday dishes where it has its own table so guest can enjoy the buffet style of filling their pitas. )
- flour ( all kinds )
- bagels ( according to the podcast that I listen to, its not included in the healthy choices)
- breads ( im detaching myself now to red ribbon and goldilock’s fluffy mamon )
- doughnuts ( this does not hurt, I stopped eating this since college. Ha! )
- cookies and biscuits ( oreo is no longer included in my grocery list )
- corn chips ( no longer eating pringles and my favorite picnic )
- cakes ( i would probably eat only when it’s my birthday because I can’t really resist Sansrival! But I would prepare and go to the gym before and after my big event. )
- wheat ( yes, you heard me right. Avoid multi grain wheat. I only eat WHOLE wheat bread, nothing else. I eat those in moderation but I try my best to lower my weekly consumption. )
- corn ( they are like carbs )
- candy and sweets ( thanks to my mom, she brought us not to get used to sweets. She even mentioned that she doesn’t put sugar on our milk when we were small. )
- rice ( if you want eat brown rice or jasmine rice )
- desserts (I havent ordered Chowking’s Halo Halo since I started my diet. )
- pies ( I still buy buko pie as “pasalubong”. Pasalubong means a something you give your friends or relative when you go out of town. A specialty of your visited town perhalps. )
- granola bars ( Ive seen this in groceries, good thing I never tried them. )
- soda ( even coke light or coke zero I would avoid since it contains aspartame, it causes brain cancer and lots of side effects. )
- cereals
- hotdogs, tocino, longanisa, ham ( they contain sugar and other additives )
You are right. Its like you no longer have a list of what to eat. Its hard to start at first but you will eventually have a wisdom to choose between healthy and junks. If you have any addition to my list, feel free to drop me a comment. It will be highly appreciated.
